Our immune systems could all do with a boost during winter time, which is why smoothies are the perfect meal replacement or snack. However, we want something a little heavier and spicier during winter, which is why a lot of these smoothies include nuts, spices, and non dairy milks. Take a look and see what you fancy:
Pineapple Winter Smoothie
For this sweet yet creamy smoothie, fill two ice cube trays. Forget the water; fill one with orange juice and one with pineapple juice. Freeze them. You then put your yogurt, honey, cinnamon, and banana in your blender and pulse until smoothed. Set this aside, then fill with your frozen ice cubes and process them until smooth.
Create an orange juice slush by blending orange ice cubes with extra orange juice. Then layer your mixtures into glasses however you like, adding extra yoghurt and cinnamon along the way.
Cold Apple Pie Smoothie
This is a really easy sweet treat to make. Simply add a chopped gala apple, ice cubes, ground cloves, and nonfat Greek yoghurt to a blender. Blend together, then add vanilla extract, a smidge of brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Blend again if you like.
Carrot Cake With Fewer Calories Smoothie
This drink tastes just like a carrot cake but without all of the calories and naughty ingredients. Add raisins, unsweetened almond milk, 1 cup of chopped carrot, a frozen banana, vanilla extract, spinach, and cinnamon to your blender. Simply blend together and enjoy! You can add as much or as little as you like of each ingredient to get your desired flavour.
Cucumber Winter Smoothie
This smoothie seriously does your body good. It has 9 grams of protein, 29% iron, 24% calcium, and 47% vitamin C. Add cucumber, 2 apples, 1 cup of mango, baby spinach, and orange juice to your blender. Blend together. You can add a splash of water if you wish to thin it out. You could add ice, or freeze your mango before blending to avoid watering down the taste!
Chai Tea Treat Smoothie
If you love chai tea, this creamy and refreshing smoothie is perfect for you. It’s one of my all time favourite recipes! All you need is 1 cup of milk (I prefer almond), 1 chai tea bag, a ripe frozen banana, and pure vanilla extract. Heat your milk on the stove or in the microwave just until it’s hot, whichever you prefer. Add your tea bag to the milk, and the pop in the fridge until chilled. Now mix your tea milk mixture with your banana and vanilla in a blender like the nutri ninja and blend it until smooth.
Healthy Gingerbread Smoothie
Love gingerbread? this is for you! You’ll need a lot of ingredients, but it’s worth it:
1 frozen banana.
35 g of ginger.
Half a cup of cooked navy beans (it works, trust me).
Quarter cup of 0% Greek yoghurt.
Quarter cup of unsweetened almond milk.
Half a scoop of vanilla flavoured protein powder.
1 tablespoon of flax meal.
Sprinkle of cinnamon.
1 tablespoon of molasses.
Flaked cereal for decorating.
Simply blend everything together apart from the flaked cereal. Top with a crushed handful of cereal and enjoy!
